Joe Mistak has spent his entire life as an artist. First as a student, studying at the Art Institute of Chicago, Illinois Institute of Technology, Institute of Design and the Art Center School in Pasadena, California.

His art career blossomed as an art director and graphic designer with various agencies and then operating his own design studio for over 30 years while continuing to work in fine art: sculpting, drawing and painting.

Recently (in 2001) he decided that painting for the enjoyment of others was what he wanted to do most and while still operating his commercial design studio, the major part of his days are spent painting.

His work shows strong design sense and mastery of color theory and composition. He enjoys strong vivid colors and wants his viewers to be moved by what they see.

He paints what he feels, abstracts, landscapes, still life and lets the subject dictate the style of the finished piece.

His work is in many private collections.
Showings are held in his studio by appointment.
